Certification Course Outline:
Integrated Survival Concepts (ISC) Certification Program is a safe and effective 5-day Instructor course, that consist of six hours of training per day.
No experience is required to participate in this course. ISC Instructor-Trainers have over 150 combined years of on-the-job experience.
Participants will learn retainable de-escalation strategies and physical skills that:
- Enhance officer safety and effectiveness in compliance with the law.
- Teach basic concepts and understanding regarding; how to lawfully Defend, Control, and effectively restrain a person in crisis on the ground while in compliance with department procedures, policies, and Peace Officer Standardized Training.
- Teach officers how to identify and understand physical vs. psychological response the human body undergoes during stress induced incidents and learning to avoid personal emotions that create unsafe and/or excessive force conditions for themselves and others.
- Simplify utilizing lawful Escorts, Takedowns; Hold Downs; Leverage and Control techniques that include (1) Officer (2) Officer and Multiple Officer strategies that transition to handcuffing options; and handcuff removal options.
- Are supported by constitutional case law rulings governing the use of force.
How will your facility / agency benefit from this program?
Most Correctional Officer Academies, and their Department In-Services DO NOT receive any training related to lawful Ground Control Tactics. The same applies for Police Academies and annual Police In-Service programs. Yet, the majority of incidents end up on the ground! In most training programs, officers are not trained how to lawfully defend themselves on the ground, nor are they trained HOW to lawfully control a person in crisis (fighting to flee, attacking to harm/kill, and or resisting officers' attempts to be placed in restraints) on the ground. However, officers are held legally accountable for their actions when attempting to defend themselves, or others, or attempting to gain control of a person who is violently assaulting and/or resisting officers on the ground.
Injuries (that could have been prevented) may occur and will adversely affect departmental staffing levels. This program will help your Correctional facility / Law Enforcement agency from experiencing unnecessary personnel injuries, potential claims of excessive force, and arbitration hearings related to the use of force.
